What are my teeth whitening options?
- Commercial whitening strips (Crest strips) – not recommended in many cases as the chemical concentration isn’t controlled, which can result in increased tooth sensitivity over several applications, and the results tend to fade quickly.
- Custom bleaching trays – we will make clear plastic trays custom fitted to your teeth, which allows you to apply a peroxide gel to whiten the teeth over a 14-day period, but may take up to 4-6 weeks for full effect. The results are long-lasting and the trays can be re-used anytime!
- Zoom! Whitening – for the best possible results, we recommend in-office bleaching where a stronger light-activated is applied over your appointment. You will see an immediate difference! Although it’s more expensive than other options, we also include the custom trays, so the whitening can be touched-up at home anytime for a fraction of the cost.
How white will my teeth be?
How much your teeth will change is different for every person. It depends on your diet, complexion, and how your teeth developed and grew. Some stains cannot be removed. Also, any restorations like fillings or crowns won’t change colour the same way as tooth-enamel – you may need to consider replacing some of this work for a perfect result.
Will my dental insurance cover whitening?
No – this is purely a cosmetic procedure and will not be covered by benefits.
