Kamloops locals Dr. Cindy Nagel and Dr. Laura Shouldice are joined by Dr. Desiree Chow, whose dental career began in Australia. Together, their experience spans general and restorative dentistry, aesthetic treatments, and hospital care for children and patients with complex medical needs.

General Dentist & Hospital Dental Surgeon
Dr. Cindy Nagel was born and raised in Kamloops, BC and proud to have returned home to build her state-of-the-art dental clinic in 2015. She graduated dental school with honours from McGill University in 2012 and trained as a hospital dentist in Calgary before transitioning to private practice in Kamloops in 2013.
In Alberta, she gained valuable experience working with medically complex patients and children, including administering conscious sedation. Between 2015-2019, Dr. Cindy volunteered her days at the non-profit dental clinic in the New Life Mission in Kamloops, giving back to those most in need in our community until the clinic closed in 2020 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
In 2017, Dr. Cindy joined the Medical Staff at Royal Inland Hospital and is now offering dental treatment under general anesthesia, both in the hospital and Kamloops Surgical Center.
Outside the office, Dr. Cindy loves to do yoga, knitting, painting, and enjoys her coffee.

Dr. Laura Shouldice
General Dentist
Dr. Laura Shouldice is proud to be practicing dentistry in Kamloops, the community she has always called home. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Victoria before completing her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the University of British Columbia, where she maintained Dean’s List standing throughout her dental education. Upon graduation, she was honoured to receive the Quintessence Award for Clinical Achievement in Restorative Dentistry and the Dr. Michele Williams Outstanding Patient Care Award.
Dr. Shouldice is excited to join the Horizon Dental team and provide care to the community that shaped her. Her experiences volunteering in underserved communities, such as Jamaica reinforced her commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care.
Outside of the clinic, you may find her playing soccer and volleyball, skiing, cycling, and creating art. She looks forward to providing a welcoming environment and building lasting relationships with patients and families in Kamloops.
Dr. Desiree Chow
General Dentist
Dr. Desiree Chow grew up in Winnipeg before moving to Melbourne, where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Melbourne. Prior to relocating to Kamloops, Dr. Chow practiced comprehensive general dentistry in regional Australia, gaining extensive experience in various aspects of dental care.
Known for her compassionate and gentle approach, Dr. Desiree takes the time to understand each patient’s individual goals and concerns. She believes in creating personalized treatment plans that explore all options, ensuring the best possible outcomes for her patients.
Dr. Desiree has an interest in restorative and aesthetic dentistry, focusing on minimally invasive techniques to restore both function and confidence in her patient’s smiles. She is trained in orthodontic treatment including clear aligners, as well as anti-wrinkle injectables for addressing TMJ disorders and teeth grinding pain. She has experience with disadvantaged communities, spending time in rural Nepal to provide dental treatment and education to those with limited access.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Desiree enjoys exploring new restaurants, traveling, and hitting the ski slopes.
